In 1944 Commander Copeman was awarded the Silver Star for his conduct in battle in the Gilbert Islands while in command of the destroyer USS Brown DD-546. CLICK to read about the USS Brown in battle. Several years ago he was C.O. of USS Benfold DDG-65, and in early 2009 Rear Admiral Copeman was named to take over command of Joint Task Force - Guantanamo. |
