Chapter 501's June 21 Fly-In was cancelled by a Morristown-Bedminster VIP TFR. But that did not stop Fly-In Chairman Barry Morse from turning the day into a 50th Anniversary celebration picnic. Our group photo at the picnic on the west side of N07's runway was taken after our members, families and guests had finished off Nick Anzano's great lunch servings of smoked pulled-pork hot sandwiches. We are sure to do this again soon!

On May 7th Eric Sampson, at West Palm Beach, picked up his newly acquired 1986 Pitts S2-B (260hp 540 cubic inch, 3 bladed prop) and started flying north. He let us know "Owning one of these has been a long term aviation goal of mine and I'm incredibly excited for what's to come. So who wants to go for a ride? It will be in NJ starting next week. Smoke on!"

Our March calendar photo, taken by New Hampshire resident John Parolin, is of Bev Weintraub and her Cherokee Archer on short final to the ice runway at Alton Bay, New Hampshire on February 22. Jeff Ross was along for the ride as co-pilot. Their day started with delivery of a "rescue dog" to a new family at Sky Haven Airport in Rochester, New Hampshire, not far away from Alton Bay. Bev has done a recap of their long day with more photos, for our March Propwash newsletter.

Our January 8 Zoom (no-in-person) Chapter 501 meeting was on a bitter cold night. We had a big on-line turnout! Our screen-capture calendar page showed only some of all present. President Matt Lamm's agenda made sure we covered every topic of planning our year ahead activities including dates for our Young Eagles events and Fly-In, managing the scholarship fund, making sure we have volunteers to do the work and recruiting new members. Event dates will be announced when we get clearance from N07 management.

At our April 21, 2024 Young Eagles event Ben Good took this photo of pilot Dick Wedemeyer checking the registration paperwork of two Young Eagles who are about to go aloft in his Piper Cherokee PA-28-140, N543FL. EAA's World's Largest Logbook shows that Dick has flown over 160 Young Eagles. That's Barry Inglett in the yellow vest escorting kids and parents that day. Barry also flies Young Eagles in N543FL. On April 21, eleven Chapter 501 pilots flew 130 kids.
