Our August calendar photo features the "Sail4th 250" Parade of Sail up and over the Hudson River on the morning of July 4th. Featured were 40 international tall ships plus an aerial review by the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels, and an international naval review. The nine aircraft steaming red white and blue smoke belonged to the Red Arrows of the Royal Air Force (RAF) aerobatic team. Some observers wondered why our USAF wasn't doing the honors. The word was that their aircraft are equipped for air show displays to only stream white smoke.

On June 14, at our third Young Eagles Flight Rally of the year, twelve Chapter 501 pilots took 105 kids aloft on a repeat of our May event... another hot sunny clear day. Ben Good took our July calendar page photo. Chapter 501 Prez Matt Lamm is introducing his Cessna 182H to two Young Eagles candidates before they climb aboard for a flight. Ground Safety Team Escort Anthony Gerst, with the clip board, will see to it that the flight departs with its registered passengers "on schedule".

Last June 1st 10 Chapter 501 pilots flew 105 Young Eagles. The kids' photos are all on our www.eaa501.org web page but Ben Good's photo chosen for our April calendar is a salute to the kids' parents. They brought their kids for the free flights and are having as much or more fun recording it all with their cell phones!

On January 31 Bev Weintraub spent some time sweeping snow off of the wings of her Cherokee and went flying. There has not been this much ice on the Hudson River in many years. We see Ellis Island and Jersey City on the left. On the right is Governor's Island and lower Manhattan.

As we plan for 2026 Young Eagles events we look back to June 1 of last year when 10 Chapter 501 pilots took 105 Young Eagles aloft on a cloudy, chilly day. Ben Good's photo has Diane Sandow and Dawn Ross making sure kids are properly registered for their flights with signatures and OKs from parents.

At our October 19 Young Eagles Flight Rally seven Chapter 501 pilots gave free rides to 102 kids on short trips up to and and back from from Wanaque Reservoir. For our calendar photo, Jon Seibert's camera captures Adam Ross helping Pete Nancoz move his Cessna 172N, N733PG, up in the line of Young Eagles aircraft. Pete flew 18 kids that day.
